Ish

Ish was a favorite to read during my first grade teacher days.

I remember being a kid and wondering why my pictures weren’t turning out as beautifully as the art I admired. I admit it stopped me from drawing or painting as much as I wanted.

This is a story about a boy who loves to draw, but after getting laughed at, he threatens to quit forever, until an unlikely art finatic proves to him that his art is beautiful in all its ish-ness.

Tell your tiny artists the same thing. The art is worth creating and enjoying because it represents the greater beauty of life and humanity.

Take a look around any of your art museums and you’ll find a lot of “ish” art that has made people feel deeply. Flower-ish, mountain-ish, happy-ish, sad-ish, afternoon-ish, and so on.

The illustrations in this gem just seem to flow. They carry you along and leave you in a calm satisfaction.

We can’t wait to watch what our kids create over the years! Share with us your kids latest ish drawings and don’t forget to tag us!

Have an ish-filled Day!
